Lilly Amechi

Lilly Amechi (she/hers) is a dedicated advocate for social and economic justice for BIPOC individuals with a strong focus on housing equity and policy analysis. As a long-time resident of rural communities nationwide, Lilly envisions a world where localities of varying populations are fully supported and every community member can participate in democratic processes. Passionate about creating sustainable and equitable communities, She works toward a future where everyone will have the right to shelter and will be affordably housed in their chosen communities. Lilly worked toward this vision in her roles at the National Low Income Housing Coalition, the Roosevelt Network, and most recently, as the Economic Equity Fellow at the Greenlining Institute. While working at the NLIHC, she lobbied Congressional offices to support key affordable housing legislation and participated in coalitions to support renters nationwide. Her work at the Roosevelt Network analyzed housing policies and zoning law in Norman, Oklahoma according to the Rooseveltiation worldview. Most recently, Lilly analyzed the state of California’s housing finance policies to create sustainable and regenerative funds for affordable housing development.
Lilly attended the University of Oklahoma where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Humanities, with minors in International Relations, and Constitutional Studies. Beyond her professional interests, Lilly enjoys reading, hiking, and community building.
