Sanyika Bryant

For the last 20 years Sanyika Bryant (he/him) has worked as an organizer in different formations on a wide array of issues ranging from tenant rights, transportation justice, police brutality, and more. Before working at the Black Organizing Project in Oakland, Sanyika worked at Causa Justa/Just Cause as a Tenant Rights Organizer for 11 years, organizing residents of single room occupancy hotels in San Francisco’s Mission District for 11 years. This work included providing know-your-rights political education, which enabled many tenants to come together to defend themselves from predatory landlords, improve their living conditions, and achieve more stability. In addition to this professional experience, Sanyika brings a shared lived experience and connection with the population we serve.
Sanyika is a longtime member of the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, serving in various positions in the organization’s leadership. His work is rooted in self-determination and his political ideology is New Afrikan Revolutionary Nationalism. Sanyikca sees his work as his personal contribution towards ending all forms of oppression and is committed to helping others build a world where everyone is truly liberated.
